    Get PDF
We show some recent HERWIG results related to the top quark mass measurement at the LHC and discuss possible improvements for studies of the bottom quark fragmentation function in the top decay.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure. Talk given at DPF 2000, Meeting of the Division of Particle and Fields of the American Physical Society, Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A., 9-12 August 200

    Progress in bottom-quark fragmentation

I review recent progress on bottom-quark fragmentation in e+e- annihilation, top-quark decay and H -> b bbar processes. I discuss the implementation of collinear and soft resummation, and the inclusion of non-perturbative information taken from LEP and SLD data.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures. Talk given at 18th International Workshop on High Energy Physics and Quantum Field Theory (QFTHEP 2004), St.Petersburg, Russia, 17-23 June 200

Interpretation of the top-quark mass results

I discuss recent work aimed at interpreting the top-quark mass measurements at the LHC and determining the theoretical uncertainty.Comment: 5 pages. Talk given at DIS 2017, April 3-7 2017, Birmingham, UK. References fixe

    Heavy flavours: theory summary

I summarize the theory talks given in the Heavy Flavours Working Group. In particular, I discuss heavy-flavour parton distribution functions, threshold resummation for heavy-quark production, progress in fragmentation functions, quarkonium production, heavy-meson hadroproduction.Comment: 6 pages. Talk given at DIS 2005, XIII Workshop on Deep Inelastic Scattering, April 27-May 1, 2005, Madison, WI, U.S.

Z' bosons at the LHC in a modified MSSM

I study the production of heavy neutral gauge bosons Z' at the LHC in U(1)' models, inspired by Grand Unification Theories, as well as in the Sequential Standard Model, accounting for possible decays into supersymmetric channels. I shall consider the MSSM and present results on branching ratios and event rates with sparticle production at the LHC, taking particular care about final states with charged leptons and missing energy.Comment: 4 pages, 4 tables. Talk given at DIS2012, XX International Workshop on Deep Inelastic Scattering and Related Subjects, 26-30 March 2012, Bonn, German

Fragmentation of bottom quarks in top quark decay

We review the main aspects of the fragmentation of bottom quarks in top quark decay. The NLO b-quark energy spectrum presents large mass logarithms ln(m_t^2/m_b^2), which can be resummed by the use of the approach of perturbative fragmentation functions. Large soft contributions in both coefficient function and initial condition of the perturbative fragmentation function have been resummed as well. Results on the energy distribution of b quarks and b-flavoured hadrons are finally presented in both x and moment spaces.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures. Talk given at Incontri sulla Fisica delle Alte Energie, Torino, Italy, 14-16 April 200
